Dedicating moments to introspection: the book of questions by Gregory Stock, Ph.D, + Memory Lane
the book that I will be answering questions from this blog, as best as I can, for as long as I can, and this caption is probably inappropriately long now, just like a fall out boy song....or maybe a panic at the disco song, IDK, like I know the difference.... 😂😂😂 |
Hey Y'all (whoever is even reading this)- its been a while since I have ever been a member on any blogging platform (much to the chagrin of creativity).
Lets take a small walk down memory lane and review the blogging platforms and sites that I remember being a part of. Ill even throw in some social media sites for the hell of it. (not in chronological order)
- Xanga; this was probably the first site that I joined, I honestly remember going to my friend Tyrone's house and setting up my page on Xanga on an old PC with a dialup connection. (my family was so poor back then we didn't have a computer, let alone internet!)
- Myspace; this is the place that I learned how to do basic HTML coding! Does anyone remember making their own layouts and doing their own coding for their layouts on myspace? This site was also my first real introduction to a mainstream social media profile to the people my age where I lived growing up. This was also the first place where I started to learn about fashion and style (not that I am particularly fashionable or stylish- I'm just starting to be able to afford what I wanted to wear in my middle school and highschool years while in my late 20's 😁😁😁)
- Vampire Freaks; honestly I was only here for a HOT minute because a few of my friends from myspace were also on the VF website. Good LORDT I had absolutely no business being on this website. I was probably a middle school scene-kid wannabe. I'm cringing at myself.
- Black Planet: Another site I had absolutely zero business being on. Apparently this is a dating website or maybe a social media website that was primarily made for black people. I was a 4ft tall Asian boy at a public library in a LARGE Midwest USA city logging into this site. Probably right after closing the tab from mortalkombat.com where I used to read the MK character profiles and also read up on Mortal Kombat news. (I'm still a big fan of the games!)
- DeviantArt/DA; Ahh, one of my personal favorites. This is a site for the artistic minded folks and those that appreciate contemporary artists. I joined this site because my brother would post his photo editing experiments that he would work on in Adobe Photoshop CS3. (I know-CS3! Ancient...) I'm not even going to even give you any possible clues to my account name on DA because it was mainly just fantasy photomanipulation and amateur photography that I posted from all of middle school and highschool.
- Club Penguin; I KNOW. I KNOW. SHUT UP AND STOP LAUGHING. I particularly remember logging into this and going online with my younger sister and starting drama with people and getting kicked off multiple times by the admins. I probably swore a few times on that site as well, which led to me being kicked off the website. 😂😂😂😂
- Facebook; Obviously. I joined Facebook relatively late in comparison to my peers when I was a sophomore in highschool. I left slightly before the whole COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic, because I just REALLY cant stand a clogged timeline. It just became overwhelming and took a negative toll on my mind. So I just left, simple as that. 😀
- Tumblr; Arguably one of the best blogging platforms! It included multi-media integration of sound clips, video, gif, text posts, and of course images. One of my personal favorites and have to sheepishly say that my account is still floating out there somewhere in the ether. 😭😭😭
- Instagram; Still active and still being innovated by the Instagram developers! A great modern social media site where people can share multi-media content that is use by multiple generations. I particularly commend IG for continually re-inventing themselves, probably because they are owned by Facebook (and we all know they have plenty of money). 👀👀👀
Well- wasn't that a fun little trip down memory lane? It sure was for me. It also made me remember all of the things I used to do that make me die of cringe. I am constantly dying of cringe. (how's that for a band name).
BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POINT OF THIS POST.....
I will be answering the questions inside this book in blog posts. and hopefully I will be able to answer them all before I get tired out of this platform.
I hope you're having a wonderful reader, whoever you are. 💓💓💓
